In an effort to provide financial stability and support the families of servicemen who died while on duty, the Chief of Army Staff Lieutenant General Taoreed Lagbaja has presented checks to 10 first-time beneficiaries of the Nigerian Army Personal Insurance Scheme.
The presentation took place at the Army Headquarters Command Officers’ Mess 1 in Abuja, as part of the conference’s closing ceremony in 2023.
This gesture by the Army Chief is an expression of the Nigerian Army’s appreciation of the service and sacrifices its personnel rendered in defence of the nation.
Addressing the participants at the closing ceremony, General Lagbaja expressed confidence in the competencies of his men and their commitment together with sister services and other security agencies to create the enabling environment for good governance and economic prosperity.
He said the conference afforded the officers quality time to review the Nigerian Army’s training, and operational and administrative activities that directly relate to security issues crucial to the nation and external environment.
During the conference, formation commanders directing various operations across the country’s geopolitical zones briefed the participants, while the Army Chief revealed that certain selected middle cadre officers joined in the deliberation.
At the conclusion of the conference, Major General Abdulkahlifa Ibrahim, former Force Commander of the Multinational Joint Task Force (MNJTF), was awarded with the National Order of Chad Medal of Honor, which was presented to him by the Chadian Government during his tour of service.
