The National Industrial Court sitting in Ibadan, Oyo State has restrained Governor Ademola Adeleke from removing the Chief Judge of Osun, Justice Adepele Ojo.
Justice Adepele Ojo had filed a suit against Governor Adeleke, Attorney General of Osun State, Osun State Judicial Service Commission and Accountant General of Osun State.
Justice Adepele Ojo in a motion experte filed by her counsel, Oladipo Olasope, SAN sought for order restraining defendants by themselves or their agents from interfering with, removing, reversing or terminating the appointment and conditions of service of the Chief Judge of Osun State.
Justice Peters Dele Peters who granted the order however adjourned the case to the 12th of December 2023 for hearing.
A coalition of Civil Society organizations had earlier addressed journalists alleging the state Governor, Ademola Adeleke of plot to remove the Chief Judge.
The CSOs also faulted the appointment and confirmation of Hashim Abioye, a card carrying member of the People’s Democratic Party as the Chairman of the State Independent Electoral Commission, OSIEC.
But the state Commissioner for Information and Public enlightenment in a statement said Government has no intention to remove the Chief Judge.
