The Borno State Government says it is working to provide equal opportunity to people living with disability in the state so as to give them a sense of belonging.
Governor Babagana Zulum made this known during the commemoration of the world disability day in Maiduguri.

Research reveals that people living with disability are more likely to experience extreme poverty in Nigeria due to lack of inclusion.
Out of this figure the northeast has the highest number of of persons living with disability, especially made worse by years of insurgency.
But the Borno state government is changing this narrative.
It is providing equal opportunity for people leaving with disability.
This move the government believes would enable people living with disability contribute their quota to the development of the society.
The aim of commemorating the International Day of Persons with Disabilities is to promote their rights and support for disability-related issues.
