The Minister of State For Defence, Bello Matawalle, has promised that the Federal Government will deal decisively with the perpetrators of the Christmas Eve Killings in 3 Local Government areas of Plateau State.
The Minister was speaking after a closed door meeting with stakeholders in the affected communities and Service Chiefs who accompanied him with the Minister of Humanitarian Affairs and Disaster management.
The Minister while pressed on what complexion the action of the Federal Government will be to forestall further re-occurrence of the Christmas Eve Killings in Plateau said the government is keeping options open but will not be disclosing such steps for security reasons.
For Her part, the Minister of Humanitarian Affairs and Disaster Management, Betta Edu, said the ministry has put in place measures to ensure victims who have now been rendered homeless and Internally displaced will be adequately taken care of.
She said the assistance will take the form of provision of basic needs and shelter.
She added that the humanitarian teams and disaster management team from the Ministry will be on ground in Plateau State for at least a month.
The delegation which includes the Minister of State for Defence, Minister of Humanitarian Affairs and Disaster Management has since left the venue of the meeting to assess the situation at the affected communities.
