Enugu state Government has revealed the strategy behind the Construction of Smart Schools in each of the 260 wards across the state.
The Secretary to the State Government, Professor Chidiebere Onyia made this public when he delivered a lecture organised by Union Secondary School, Awkunanaw Enugu Old Boys Association.
The desire to train personnel that would contribute to the bio-digital-technology to drive the fourth industrial revolution across the globe, hence investment by Governor Peter Mbah in state education sector.
In the recently passed 2024 budget, the government appropriated the sum of 134.9 Billion Naira for education at 33% percent, with 73.6 percent appropriated for Social sector.
Delivering his keynote speech at the quadrennial convention lecture, the SSG says some deliberate steps must be taken by the new administration to reform the education system to meet the much needed changing global demands.
He highlights that the government has launched well-thought out radical policy-initiatives, which would not only equip students with emerging future technological skills, but also afford them opportunities to compete with their peers globally.
The SSG explained that with the introduction of the smart school model across the 260 electoral wards with new facilities such as the centre for artificial intelligence, interactive smart boards and others.
