The Federal government has flagged-off the commencement of work on the dual 260km road leading from Makurdi – Enugu.
The Minister of Works, David Umahi, who flagged off the exercise also disclosed the construction of a flyover at the wurukum round-about in Makurdi, the Benue state capital.
These roads will improve socio Economic activities and access to towns, and communities
It will also improve security, by reducing robbery and kidnappings on the highway.
Some of the federal roads in Benue state which are in bad shape are the Katsina- Ala- Abaji-Tordonga-Harga Road, Makurdi-Gboko Road, Yandev-Ugbema Road, Makurdi – Naka – Adoka Road, Makurdi – Aliade – Otukpo Road, and Otukpo – Enugu Road and many more.
Some of these highways have become dark spot where Travellers are regularly robbed, killed, and kidnapped, especially the Makurdi – Naka – Adoka Road.
Recognising these dangers, Federal government has prioritised road construction.
The state Governor commended the Federal government for keeping its promise.
This road will not only boost the economy but also reduce the insecurity in the region.
