Former Governor of Kwara state, Abdulfatah Ahmed has pleaded not guilty to a 12 count charge of alleged misappropriation of State funds.
The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC had charged the former Kwara governor to court over alleged misappropriation of funds.
Mr. Ahmed had been in custody of the EFCC since Monday and was eventually brought to court on Friday.
Some members of the People’s Democratic party had on Wednesday protested his continued detention Beyond 48 Hours by the EFCC.
Journalists were initially barred from from covering the court proceedings but only two were eventually allowed into the courtroom after much pressure.
After being charged, he pleaded not guilty to all 12 counts, thereafter his bail was set at 50 million naira.
The former governor is also to provide two sureties having landed properties in Ilorin.
Mr Ahmed’s bail conditions were filed and granted by Justice Evelyn Anyadike.
The former Kwara governor served between 2011 and 2019.
