The Executive Secretary of the National Commission of Almajiri and Out of School Children Education, Shaaban Sharada has assured Nigerians that the commission will not relent in its desire to reduce the number of out of school children .
The commission collaborated with UNICEF in order to achieve this .
The scourge of out of school children has always been a source of concern to many Nigerians and stakeholders in the education sector.
A meeting between the commission and UNICEF is aimed at addressing the challenges faced in ensuring out of school children are enrolled in schools.
The executive secretary of the commission Shaaban Sharada disclosed that lack of reliable data among various agencies has hindered the collective efforts to reduce the number of out of school children over the years .
And for the project to work, the ministry of education has to use resources effectively .
Other stakeholders in the education sector agree that ; there is an urgent need to get these children off the streets and back to school.
Chief Education UNICEF Nigeria, Saadhna Panday , expressed willingness to work with the commissions towards reducing Nigeria’s out of school menace.
To achieve this, several activities have been rolled out by the Commission and stakeholders in the education sector.
