The National Agency for the Prohibition of Trafficking (NAPTIP) in Persons has commended the impact of the ‘support the fight against human trafficking in the States of the Gulf of Guinea’ project.
The Director General of the agency says through this, they have recorded milestone achievements in the fight against trafficking and human smuggling
Expertise France has over the last four years implemented the ‘Support the fight against human trafficking in the States of the Gulf of Guinea’ project
The project, implemented in 6 countries – Benin, Cote d’Ivoire, Ghana, Guinea, Togo and Nigeria within the period helped to strengthen government and civil societies effort in combating human trafficking
The project in 4 years supported about 660 victims and potential victims, and 25 others rehabilitated by NAPTIP under the project.
The EU, who is funding the project says they would support UNODC to continue the fight against human trafficking.
As the programme closes out in Nigeria, it is also closing out in the other 5 countries with a hope to get more funding to continue the fight against trafficking and smuggling of human.
