In line with President Bola Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda in the area of food production, creation of employment opportunities and reduction of poverty, the Senator representing Ogun Central Shuaib Salisu has met the leadership of the Federal University of Agriculture, Abeokuta to discuss ways to provide extension services that can benefit farmers and boost food production.
The Senator said the institution has a lot to give the people and the country, and he is ready to assist in bringing local farmers in different towns and farmers associations together to benefit from special training that would be jointly provided by his office and the institution.
While speaking on some of the challenges confronting the Institution, some of the lecturers demanded for the reintroduction of management sciences into the university, claiming that Agriculture is a business and the university should be allowed to run such programmes.
The Vice Chancellor commended the Senator for the visit and his plans for the Institution and his constituents.
Another major challenge facing the Institution was the deplorable state of the road leading to the University from the city centre and the Senator promised palliative work on it.
While speaking on efforts made on how to harmonise identity cards in the country, the senator assured Nigerians that work is ongoing and people should be expecting good news in that regards.
The Senator also promised that he’s ready to make good use of his office to impact the lives of his constituents.
