Some elders in Kwara south senatorial district say the proposed Kwara South summit is not meant to agitate for state creation but rather facilitate the unity of the Senatorial districts.
They stated this while briefing newsmen in Ilorin, the state capital.
Kwara is a multi-ethnic state.
Unlike the two other senatorial districts, indigenes of Kwara south
are mainly Yoruba with seven local government areas.
But they also have sub-ethnic groups such as Ibolo, Igbomina and
Ekiti.
In spite of the Yoruba ethnic affinity, unity is a major challenge of
Kwara south.
At this press conference held in Ilorin, Kwara central, some leaders
of the Kwara south extraction say they are ready to facilitate the unity of the senatorial district.
The chairman also deny that the summit is meant to agitate for
state creation or alignment with the South Western part of Nigeria
which is the major Yoruba region.
They believe that the senatorial district has the potential to develop further, provided the people are united.
