The Police in Imo state have arrested suspects who allegedly shot and killed the Divisional police officer of Ahiazu Mbaise at Ahiara junction last year.
Briefing journalists while parading twenty suspects arrested for various crimes, the police public relations officer Henry Okoye said seven of the suspects were arrested in Oguta local government area.
In November last year, gunmen shot and killed the Divisional police officer of Ahiazu Mbaise were escaping a gun duel.
The senior police officer’s death sparked reactions among the security agencies of the area.
Security operatives continued its trail on the masterminds of the dastardly act.
The effort of the operatives has yielded results as police authorities confirmed that seven suspects have been arrested in connection with the crime.
A suspect admitted being a member of the indigenous people of Biafra but said he was not involved in the killing of the DPO, while another suspect confirmed being a member of a kidnapping syndicate.
The police recovered from the suspects, seven pump action guns, locally made guns, live cartridges, Biafran currency as well as fetish items they use as charms in the cause of carrying out their operations.
