In an effort to bolster the fight against insecurity in the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Security Agencies have received 50 operational cars equipped with communication devices from Minister of the FCT, Mr. Nyesom Wike.
The Minister explained that the action was taken to provide security agencies with the necessary logistics to help them fight crime in the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) on Friday when he turned over the cars to the agencies in Abuja.
The FCT Police Command received 24 cars, the Nigerian Security and Civil Defence Corps eight, the Advance Party/Security Monitoring, FCT Administration six, and the Department of State Services five.
The Nigerian Army’s Guard Brigade also received three vehicles, while the Nigerian Air Force, 005, Abuja, Naval Unit, Nigerian Immigration Service, and National Drugs Law Enforcement Agency each received one.
Mr Wike pointed out that one of the key priorities of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu was the security of lives and properties.
According to him, any leader who cannot secure the lives and properties of citizens has no business in governance.
The FCT minister urged residents to support and pray for the security agents, who sometimes lose their lives in the line of duty.
He commended the security agencies for reducing the rate of crime in the FCT and promised continued support by providing the tools needed to work for the interest of residents.
He urged the security agencies to use the vehicles for the benefit of the society and not for private use.
