The National Drug Law Enforcement Agency says it seized 18,000 kilogrammes of cannabis sativa and other hard drugs in Oǹdo State between January and June this year.
The State Commander of agency, Kayode Raji stated this in Akure, during the decoration of 51 personnel recently promoted by the agency in the state.
Available data from the Ondo State command of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency show that a total of 56 hectares of cannabis sativa farmlands were destroyed between January and June this year in the State.
The command also arrested more than 140 suspects, out of which 41 convictions were recorded within the period.
The agency also destroyed a total of 18,000 kilogrammes of hard drugs, mainly cannabis sativa in various locations.
According to the agency, these achievements were recorded due to the team work and dedication of officers and men of the command.
Speaking at the decoration of newly promoted officers, the State Commander of the agency, Kayode Raji said the war against drugs is a must win for the command.
At the event, 51 men and officers were decorated with their new ranks.
He said the Command is focusing not just on arrest of offenders, but also scaling up its awareness campaign against the menace in the state.
