The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC is appealing to individuals, communities and corporate bodies to join hands with the commission to efficiently tackle corruption.
The anti-corruption agency said this appeal is necessary in view of the danger and threat that corruption represents.
The Executive Chairman of the agency, Mr Ola Olukoyede made the appeal during this year’s African Anti-corruption Day in Ilorin the Kwara state capital.
The chairman whose message was delivered by the Ilorin Zonal director of the agency, Mr Harry Erin, said the war against corruption cannot be won through lip service, emotional outburst or mere mob campaigns.
He said there is the need for commitment, passion, consistency and credibility of intelligence to win the war against corruption.
He appealed to people to embrace the whistleblowing method, promising to protect their identities.
Speaking on behalf of the Emir of Ilorin and the chairman, Kwara state council of Chiefs, Dr Ibrahim Sulugambari, the Olusin of Isanlu Isin, Oba Solomon Oloyede advised the Commision to extend the campaign to the grassroots
The theme for this year’s anti-corruption walk is “Effective Whistleblowing for Corruption-Free Nigeria”
