Hauwa’u Adamu, the 75-year-old mother of renowned Hausa singer Dauda Kahutu Rarara, has been released after being held captive for nearly three weeks.
The singer announced her release on Wednesday morning through his verified Instagram account.
Details regarding whether any ransom was paid to secure her freedom were not disclosed.Adamu was abducted in late June by suspected terrorists in Katsina State.
The kidnappers initially contacted the family, demanding a ransom of N1 billion.
Using the phone of a woman whose device they had seized during the abduction, the kidnappers later reduced their demand to N900 million after brief negotiations with a family member.
