As parts of efforts to encourage bumper harvest and ensure food security, the Kwara state government has distributed another round of farm inputs to ten thousand farmers across the sixteen local government areas of the state.
This is just as the state is also planning to launch what it calls “Kwara elite young farmers” to encourage youth participation in agriculture value chain.
This is the third distribution of farm inputs to farmers in kwara State this farming season.
This time around, it targets 10,000 real farmers.
Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq flags of the distribution.
He says this is aimed at ensuring food security.
Mrs Oloruntoyosi Thomas is the Kwara state commissioner for Agriculture and food security.
She says the farm inputs are distributed to to only verifiable real farmers.
This is equally confirmed by farmers and Civil Society Organizations who monitored the process.
Apart from these incentives to farmers, the Commissioner for agriculture and food security says the state is equally encouraging youths’ involvement in agric value chain
The Kwara state government had earlier distributed special rice
interventions to 3,400 real rice farmers and another farm implements and supports to 600,000 households including small holding farmers.
