Governor of Kwara state, AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq says continuous partnership in healthcare is crucial in addressing complex challenges faced in the sector.
He stated this at the inauguration of a burn intensive care unit at the University of Ilorin Teaching Hospital, Ilorin, Kwara state.
The University of Ilorin Teaching Hospital, was established 44 years ago as one of the second generation tertiary hospitals.
Since then, patients with burn injuries have had to be managed in open general ward which has been counterproductive because many of them died from infections.
This led to the donation of the burn intensive care unit.
The intensive care unit is a specialised state-of-the-art medical facility that provides advanced care for patients who have sustained severe burns.
In his remarks, Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq represented by his commissioner for health, Aminat El-Imam, says partnership with the private sector is the model of modern Healthcare financing.
The burn intensive care unit is expected to enhance healthcare delivery at the teaching hospital.
