The Jigawa State Government has announced the complete lifting of the 24-hour curfew in 19 local government areas and a relaxation of the curfew in eight other LGAs, following a review of the current security situation.
This decision was made by the State Joint Security Committee, chaired by Governor Umar Namadi, after reviewing reports from security agencies across the state.
According to a statement signed by the Commissioner of Information, Sagir Musa Ahmed, and made available to newsmen in Dutse, the curfew in the eight affected LGAs – Babura, Birnin Kudu, Dutse, Gumel, Hadejia, Kazaure, Kiyawa, and Roni – will now be in effect from 6 pm to 5 am.
This relaxation of the curfew will remain in place pending further improvement in the security situation.
He said the state government’s decision to lift and relax the curfew in these LGAs reflects its commitment to restoring normalcy and ensuring the safety of citizens in Jigawa State.
