The Ohanaeze Ndigbo youth wing has rejected the decision of the Secretary General, Amb. Okey Emuchay, to reinstate the expelled Youth President, Damain Okafor, stating that they will not cooperate with him.
The youth expressed dissatisfaction over a statement made by the National Publicity Secretary of the main Igbo socio-cultural body, announcing their support for Mazi Chukwuma Okpalaezeukwu, the acting youth leader.
The youth wing accused the Secretary General, who is currently in charge of the body’s affairs, of adopting a unilateral decision to reinstate the expelled youth president.
They said the Secretary General of Ohanaeze Ndigbo lacks the powers to remove and/or replace any executive officer of the youth wing of Ohanaeze Ndigbo.
Rising from an emergency meeting, the youth wing maintained that the NEC of Ohanaeze never met to take any decision to reinstate the expelled leader, describing his action as illegal.
They also applauded Igbos, both home and abroad for declining to join the planned Nationwide protests, emphasising that they would rather engage government in dialogue than protesting against a government who has showed genuine commitment for Igbo race course.
The Ohaneze Secretary General of Ohanaeze NDIGBO WORLDWIDE, in a statement made by National Publicity Secretary, requesting Chukwuma Okpalaezeukwu to return to his position and abstain from parading himself as the Acting National Youths Leader of the highest Igbo body.
