A Former Governor of Oyo state Rashidi Ladoja has been presented the Ceremonial Beaded crown.
The crown was presented by the Acting Governor of Oyo state, Adebayo Lawal at the palace of the Olubadan amidst cheers and jubilation.
There had been controversies over whether the former Governor, who is also the Otun Olubadan, would receive the ceremonial beaded crown, following the passing of the bill to amend the 1957 Olubadan Chieftaincy Declaration, which was also assented to by Makinde.
The controversy began during the tenure of former Governor Abiola Ajimobi, who introduced beaded crowns for high chiefs, a move that faced opposition in court from the then Olubadan of Ibadanland, Oba Saliu Adetunji, and Ladoja.
However, the former Governor recently expressed his willingness to wear the beaded crown, which is a prerequisite for his crowning as the Olubadan of Ibadanland when it is his turn.
