Residents in Maiduguri, the capital of Borno are gradually regaining access to other areas of the state as the floodwaters that flooded the Capital gradually recede.
Despite the fact that the flood destroyed Maiduguri’s main bridge, which links the city to other regions of the state, reconstruction has since commenced to enable access and allow people go back to their normal activities
The popular Lagos bridge is now being reconstructed.
It is where waters from Alau Dam passed through, and poured into the state capital.
Residents were cut off totally since the area was impassable. The rapid rush of the seas caused damage to the bridge.
Water levels have dropped in most regions of the state, and bridge restoration has begun in earnest.
For the time being, the bridge is only accessible by foot and is closed to automobiles.
As life in Maiduguri gradually returns to normal, shopkeepers and other people assess their losses.
The government has promised to fix the bridge to ensure, people are not cutoff from moving from one end of the city to the other.
