Displaced persons from. Gwandi, one of the twenty one communities sacked by suspected bandits were chased out of their communities when they attempted to return to the community from Kebbe town where they are taking refuge.
Residents of the community mostly men attempted to return home and get food items and other supplies for their family members taking refuge in one of the primary schools at the council headquarters but we’re denied access by the bandits who have now taken over the village.
Some of the community members told TVC NEWS at the temporary displaced persons camp in Kebbe town that the bandits have break into various homes in the village and carted away food items.
They say some of the persons that returned to the village escape by chance as those who went on motorcycle abandoned their motorcycles for the bandits and ran to safety in Kebbe.
The community members and other displaced persons from. various communities affected are appealing to the state and federal governments to assist them with food items to augment supplies from the local council.
They are also appealing for mobilisation of additional security personnel to their communities to come and confront and chase out the bandits from their communities.
According to them, continua stay of the bandits in their villages will deny them access to their farms to harvest their farm produce a situation they say will throw them into a precarious situation.
They are also appealing for assistant for medicine and beddings saying mosquitoes in the raining season has exposed their children and women to malaria
A local says more communities have been taking over by the bandits and are using their houses to keep kidnap victims.
