Oyo state governor, Seyi Makinde has revealed that, during his second term, a total of 510 persons with disabilities have been employed into the State’s workforce during his second term.
The Governor made this known at a programme organised to commemorate this year’s International Day of Persons With Disabilities in Ibadan.
This gathering marks the maiden edition of the stakeholders summit and international day of persons with disabilities, put together by the Government of Oyo state to promote inclusivity, and equal opportunities for persons with disabilities in the State.
In Nigeria, the main challenges that people with disabilities face are finance, discrimination, social exclusion, amongst others.
To help them overcome this persisting reality, the pace setter state has now increased the 2025 capital budgetary allocation for Persons with Disabilities by over 70 per cent.
This is coming after absorbing over 500 PWDs into the state’s Civil service.
The commemoration the International Day of Persons with Disabilities, the state government reaffirms its commitment to promoting inclusivity, accessibility, and equal opportunities for persons with disabilities in the State.
