An Islamic cleric has described the challenges of living with disability as akin to being in a leadership position.
AbdulHakeem Abdul-Lateef who is a former Commissioner in Lagos State disclosed this while speaking at the 2nd edition of the Walimatul Qur’an for the blind organised by the Muslim Association of Visually Impaired of Nigeria, Lagos State Chapter MAVIN.
He urged Government at all levels to empower the visually impaired and Others living with disabilities to ensure they contribute Economically to the development of the nation.
For his part, the National Amir of the Association urges the Federal Government to plan for the Visually impaired and those living with disabilities.
Prayers were also said for the repose of the Soul of eminent Islamic Cleric, Muideen Ajani Bello, who was slated to be the guest of honour until his death a day earlier.
