Armed hoodlums on motorbikes suspected to be Lakurawa bandits invaded Lawal Black Farm and a nearby Fulani settlements located at Natsini village, along Argungu/Kangiwa road and rustled unspecified number of cows on Friday at about 0100hrs.
Following the complaint, a squad of police officers from the Safer Highway patrol raced to the location, engaged the bandits in a gunfight, and chased them until they fled into the forest, where they were shot and some of the rustled cows were safely retrieved.
Consequently, two police officers were killed in the course of the engagement.
CP Bello M. Sani, the Commissioner of Police for Kebbi State Command, condemned the tragic event, prayed for the deceased officers’ souls to rest in peace forever, and wished their immediate relatives and well-wishers strength to bear the irreversible loss.
The CP also paid an on-the-spot assessment visit to the scene, after which he visited the Emir of Argungu, Alhaji Dr. Sama’ila Muhammad Mera, to condole and update him on the unified security services’ efforts to combat crime in the area.
