Nigeria’s Democracy will only flourish with a collaborative approach that brings together everyone from Government Intitutions to Politicians to Journalists, Lawyers and the Civili Societies Organisations.
This came to light in a Civic engagement meeting in Abuja that brought together stakeholders in the Nigerian project in Abuja.
The Civic engagement draws together people in both the private and public sector to ensure the nations’ democracy thrives.
Speakers at the conference said civic engagement remains a key part of the Democratic proces that cannot be left unattended if Democracy will thrive.
Special Adviser on Political issues to Vice President Kashim Shettima, Hakeem Baba Ahmed, said the sovereignty of Peoples is a sticking point in strenghtening the democratic process in Africa.
For his part, Otive Igbuzor, Executive Director, Centre For Leadership Startegy and Development said the ideal path for Democratic Development is for all stakeholders in the process to have clearly defined roles.
He said everyone must be a game changer to ensure continuing development of the process in Nigeria.
The Executive Director of the Centre For Democracy and Development, Jibrin Ibrahim, said citizens participation is key to ensure the continuing evolution of the process in Nigeria.
Other speakers agreed on the need to deepen Citizens participation to drive Denmocratic Development In Nigeria.
