Governor of Cross river state,Bassey Otu, has reaffirmed his commitment to enhancing maritime security and boosting the economy.
He gave the assurance when the new Commander of Nigerian Navy Ship (NNS) Victory, Commodore Ajumobi Oride, visited him In his temporary office in Calabar.
Governor Otu acknowledged the Nigerian Navy’s crucial role in securing the state’s waterways, safeguarding fishing communities, and combating maritime crimes.
He also commended the Navy’s efforts in maintaining peace along the coastline, which has significantly contributed to the growth of economic activities, particularly in the fishing sector.
The Commander NNS-Victory , commended the governor for his support and highlighted the Navy’s commitment to securing the State’s waterways.
He also updated the governor on the Navy’s surveying operations around the Calabar Channel to ensure safe navigation for vessels. However, he requested more resources, including fuel, to sustain their operations.
