Lagos State Governor, Babajide Sanwo-Olu, has announced that his administration remains dedicated to delivering the proposed Lekki International Airport and other landmark infrastructure projects across the State.
Governor Sanwo-Olu revealed that regulators from the aviation industry will visit Lagos next week to conduct a review and site inspection, paving the way for the construction of the Lekki International Airport.
He emphasised that the airport will bolster future investments in the state.
The Governor made these remarks during an official visit and guided tour of Alaro City and the Universal One Development along the Lekki-Epe Expressway.
He was accompanied by members of the Lagos State Executive Council and senior government officials.
During the tour, which lasted over two hours, Governor Sanwo-Olu inspected four companies within Alaro City: Ariel Foods, BUA, TY Danjuma Logistics Park, and Universal Homes.
He also disclosed that work on the Green Line Rail project, which will run from Marina to Lekki, is set to begin soon, with funding currently being finalised.
Governor Sanwo-Olu stated: “We commend Alaro City for the significant physical infrastructure that has been established to attract businesses and investors to the area. As a government, we have also put in place the necessary infrastructure to support investments in this corridor. Credit must be given to our visionary President Bola Tinubu, who, as Governor, initiated the Lekki Free Trade Zone nearly two decades ago. I was fortunate to be part of his team at the time, and we have witnessed remarkable growth since then.
“Alaro City is a success story, and we encourage investors who are still undecided to act now, as progress is moving rapidly. We thank all Lagosians for their belief in our city and state. The Lekki-Epe Expressway will continue to open up opportunities for investment in this part of the city.
“Plans are also underway for the Green Line Rail, which will eventually serve this neighbourhood. There are numerous transformative projects in the pipeline, building on the progress made over the past 10 to 15 years. I am incredibly excited about what this area will become in the next decade.”
Earlier, the Chairman of Alaro City, Mr. Ayo Gbeleyi, highlighted that the Lekki Free Trade Zone corridor is an ideal location for investment, thanks to the extensive infrastructure development undertaken by the Lagos State Government in the area.
Similarly, the Managing Director of Alaro City, Mr. Yomi Ademola, praised the collaboration between the Lagos State Government and private organisations, which has attracted significant investments to Lagos and created numerous job opportunities for residents.
Ademola also commended the Sanwo-Olu administration for delivering key infrastructure projects across Lagos, particularly in the Lekki axis.
These include the Lekki Deep Sea Port, Phase I of the six-lane rigid pavement Lekki-Epe Expressway, and the proposed Lekki Airport and Green Line Rail project.
