The Nigeria Customs Service has made a significant interception at the Babana border in Niger State, seizing large quantities of petroleum products allegedly meant for criminal groups.
500 gallons and 2 drums of Premium Motor Spirit (PMS) were seized by the Nigeria Customs Service at the border in Niger State. The total Duty Paid Value of the seized items is put at over 25 million Naira.
Assistant Comptroller General of Customs, Husseini Ejibunu, disclosed that the petroleum products were allegedly destined for bandits to fuel their operations , a development he described as having serious economic and security implications for the country.
Ejibunu stressed the need for increased vigilance and called on members of the public to provide actionable intelligence to security agencies to help curb such illegal activities.
The seizure is part of ongoing efforts by the Customs Service to block supply chains that aid criminal elements and threaten national security.
