Gunmen have reportedly abducted two commercial cars and kidnapped 19 people along the Adoka-Naka route in Benue’s Gwer-west local government area.
Secretary of the Nigeria Union of Road Transport Workers (NURTW) in charge of the High Level Unit, Yakubu Onu, verified the incident to TVC news correspondent based in Makurdi
He stated that the event involved two vehicles.
He explained that the first truck had loaded nine passengers from High Level Motor Park Makurdi and was on its way to Lokoja when six of them were abducted and taken to the woods, leaving three behind.
He went on to say that the second car was traveling from Ankpa to Makurdi with eight passengers on board, and that all of them were taken at the same location.
Daniel Abomtse, the district head for Naka and Ter Toshi in Gwer-West, also stated that two commercial cars were hijacked and occupants taken on the Naka/Adoka route.
He disclosed that the incident happened just three Kilometres to Naka town and promised to get the details later.
Efforts to obtain confirmation from the Benue State Command Police Public Relations Officer, Catherine Anene, at the time of reporting this article were unsuccessful.
