Drone strikes in a major city in Tigray, northern Ethiopia, have put “a very fragile hope” for peace in jeopardy, according to the European Union.
The EU urged parties to the conflict to reach a permanent truce through negotiation as soon as possible.
This comes after a drone strike on Wednesday killed at least ten people and injured 18, according to doctors in the city of Mekelle.
The Tigray’s People Liberation Front blamed the Ethiopian government for the attack.
Meanwhile, the Union also said that the role of Ethiopia’s northern neighbour, Eritrea, continues to impede peace efforts.
Tigrayan forces accuse Eritrea of supporting Ethiopian government troops in the recent fighting.
Neither the Ethiopian nor Eritrean governments have commented on the claims.
According to a report, fresh fighting has already hampered humanitarian operations to aid people, and supplies are still not being delivered to the area.
