The Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs (OCHA), has confirmed that more than 300,000 people in the South Sudan famine-hit areas have received humanitarian assistance.
On February the 20th 2017, South Sudanese government and UN agencies declared Some 100,000 people were facing starvation in the two counties, while people in nearby counties were considered at high risk of famine.
In a separate report, OCHA spokesperson Jens Laerke, said more than a million people are on the brink of famine.
Jens added that the humanitarian operations are hindered by the lack of security and threatened by a funding shortage.
