Wife of Edo state governor, Betsy Obaseki, has advocated for a collaborative effort to combat drug abuse amongst youths.
She made this statement in Edo State and Benin City during a stakeholder engagement forum intended to address the problem.
The event was one of many programmes lined up for the second edition of the Betsy Obaseki female football tournament ,With the theme, ‘SAY NO TO DRUGS’.

The goal was to educate the younger generation about the dangers of abusing controlled substances.
She expressed concern about the prevalence of drug addiction among young people who are still in their formative years.
Stakeholders have blamed the current level of insecurity on the prevalence of drug abuse.
And so their expectations is for all members of the public to act as change agents in partnership with government to change the narrative.

The drug war is far from over, but organisers of the event believe that sustained and concerted efforts will go a long way toward lowering the statistics.
