The Nigerian Army has recovered dangerous weapons from suspected criminals and political thugs in Sokoto state.
Director of Army Public Relations, Brigadier General Sani Usman, said the operation was carried out by troops of 8 Division, on Exercise EGWU EKE Three, and other security agencies.
16 people believed to be political thugs armed with 27 axes and 16 customised sticks were arrested along Illela-Danfulani-Gwadabawa road.

They have been handed over to the police.
