The Flamingoes on Saturday crashed out of the Jordan 2016 U-17 Women’s World Cup after a 3-0 defeat to Korea DPR at the Amman International Stadium.
The Nigerians were beaten 1-0 by Brazil in their opener while they held England to a goalless draw in their second Group C game. Coach Bala Nikyu’s side needed a win against the Asians to stand a chance of qualifying for the knockout stages of the event, but it was not to be, as hot-shot Ri Hae Yon’s hat-trick confined them to a first ever exit from the group stage. The Flamingoes have attended all and reached the quarterfinals of the biennial event since it began eight years ago.
