Senatorial candidates of some political parties for Kwara Central have identified high youth unemployment and prevailing poverty among the challenges to tackle, if elected to represent the area in the forthcoming 2023 general elections.
The candidates made the promise while featuring on a political debate programme in Ilorin, the Kwara state capital.
The debate was put together by the Correspondents’ Chapel of the Nigeria Union of Journalists, Kwara state.
The chairman of the chapel, Abdulhakeem Garba set the tone for the debate.
Among the candidates invited, only those of the Labour Party, Farouq Akanbi, Peoples Democratic Party, Bolaji Abdullahi and Social Democratic Party, Ridwan Apaokagi showed up for the debate.
Each fancy his chances and claims to have what it takes to represent the central senatorial district.

Some of them include poverty, youth unemployment and insecurity.
Kwara central senatorial district comprises Ilorin West, Ilorin East, Ilorin South and Asa local government areas.
