The Managing Director of the Transmission company of Nigeria, Usman Mohammed said the TCN has the capacity to wheel out more than 8 thousand megawatts of electricity if the distribution network is expanded.
Usman Mohammed restated this on the sidelines of a capacity building programme for staff of the transmission service provider.
Energy correspondent, Tolulope Ogunjobi reports that the transmission company of Nigeria, TCN manages the electricity transmission network across the country. It is one of the eighteen companies that was unbundled from the defunct power holding company of Nigeria in 2001 and provides the vital transmission infrastructure between the Generating companies, generally known as GENCOs and the feeder substations of the Distribution Companies, or DISCOs.
For the acting managing director of the National power training institute of Nigeria, Ahmed Nagode, the institute is focused on improving the effectiveness of operation engineers.
In all this, the ultimate aim is to increase power generation and distribution, at a cost-reflective tariff.
