The African Action Alliance, in Rivers State, has called for thorough investigation into an alleged clash between some soldiers and Police officers during the governorship elections.
Governorship candidate of the party, Biokpomabo Awara, made the call during a visit to one of the injured army officers in Port Harcourt, Rivers State capital.
Correspondent Uche Okoro reports that Army Captain Adams Salami has been receiving treatment at the Intensive Care Unit of University of Port Harcourt Teaching Hospital, for the last two weeks.
According to him, he was shot in the stomach during an attack by some police officers and hoodlums while providing security for the collation center of Obio/Akpor Local Government Area.
The police are yet to respond officially but the African Action Alliance, AAC says all those responsible for this and election violence elsewhere in the state must be brought to justice.
Other members of the delegation prayed for quick recovery of the wounded officer and an end to electoral violence in Rivers State.
Another officer, Corporal Adebayo Ade, admitted at the military hospital is also recovering from injuries sustained during the same attack at Obio/Akpor Collation Center.
