The Senior Staff Association of Electricity and Allied Companies has called for sanction against violators on electricity privatisation in the country. The President General of the association, Mr. Chris Okonkwo made the call during its 4th Triennial Delegates Conference in Enugu .
TVC News Correspondent, Bamidele Ajayi reports that delivering his keynote address at the 4th Triennial Delegates Conference, former permanent Secretary, Ministry of Power, said that those who manned the power sector were among Nigerians performing critical roles in the day to day survival of the country.
He explained that the electricity sector had for nearly 200 years became the most important determinant of the economic and social progress and
material wealth of any nation.
Others in the labour union of the power sector urged the federal government to review the document on power privatisation to see if it had been violated and sanction those who had violated it and reward those who had not.
Other participants at the conference called for an overhaul of the nation’s power sector privatization process to promote efficiency in service
delivery to the public.
Representative of the minister labour and employment said the conference was apt and at the very nexus of the power sector matrix, describing workers of power as the most professional, proficient and patriotic Nigerians.
