The North-central Elders Forum has called on the All Progressive Congress party to zone the speakership position of the house of representatives to the geo-political zone.
At a briefing in Abuja, the forum says the zone is too strategic to be relegated in the power sharing equation in Nigeria.
Correspondent Habidah Lawal reports that since the return of Nigeria to democracy in 1999, the North-central zone has never produced a presiding officer in the House of Representatives.
Fast forward to 2019, the its leaders are pitching this as reason why it must be considered first as the race for who emerges Speaker becomes a
survival of the strongest.
The leaders emphasize role of the the North-central zone as the balancing act In the nation’s politics which should be rewarded for playing such a
crucial role.
They promise that if the Speaker’s seat is zoned to the north central, the party is assured of it’s loyalty.
