A ten-man peace committee has been inaugurated by Taraba and Benue states, to end the inter-ethnic crises the states have witnessed in the last month.
The committee has three months to identify the causes of the fighting between the Tiv and Jukun communities, and suggest a peace plan.
It will also assess the destruction of property there.
The deputy governors of both states met in Wukari town, for the second time in two weeks, to inaugurate the committee, which has five members from each state.
The Benue State acting governor, Benson Abounu, urged the committee to be fair and do their job by revealing the causes and solutions to the problems.
The committee will tour all affected areas to sensitise the people on the need for peaceful co-existence and to also determine the extent of damage done.
