NLC National President, Ayuba Wabba made the statement in Akure, the Ondo state capital while swearing-in new executive members of the union in the state.

Represented by the National President of the Academic Staff Union of University, ASUU, Biodun Ogunyemi, Wabba said workers cannot enjoy the new minimum wage, due to high cost of living.
In his message, Governor Oluwarotimi Akeredolu, represented by the State Head of Service, Toyin Akinkuotu, declared that his administration would
support implementation of the new minimum wage.
The newly elected NLC Chairman also promised to ensure implementation of the new minimum wage for workers in the State.
Other labour leaders at the event stressed the need for government to pay special attention to workers’ welfare.
