Zainab Aliyu, the Nigerian held in Saudi Arabia on the accusation of trafficking Tramadol, has been released to the Nigerian mission in the country.
There has been high-level diplomatic moves to get her freed, after it was discovered she was the victim of a drug cartel that specialised in planting hard drugs in travelers’ bags.
She was arrested and detained in Saudi, after one of such drugs, Tramadol was found in a bag with her name-tag.
The Permanent Secretary of the ministry of foreign affairs made the announcement in abuja.
News media aide to the President, Bashir Ahmad, also confirmed Zainab’s release in a post on twitter.
