The Nigerian Senate has commended security agencies and the international community for the rescue of twenty one of the Chibok girls even as it says about one thousand unknown abductees remain in captivity.
The commendation followed a motion by Senator Ali Ndume who thanked President Muhammadu Buhari for leading ongoing negotiations to free more abducted persons.
TVC News Sumner Sambo reports. Senator Ndume representing Borno south is enthused about the release of the Chibok girls.
He says leaders of the northeast are grateful to the nation for standing by them when terrorist activities held sway in that region.
The Senate leader says over a thousand individuals were abducted but he is hopeful that all of such persons will soon be released too.
Most senators called for the proper rehabilitation of the released 21 girls and asked parents whose family members are yet to be rescued to remain calm.
