A protest by the National Union of Food, Beverages and Tobacco Employees against alleged maltreatment of workers turned violent on Monday.
Members of the union had gone to picket the office of A and P Foods Limited in Lagos.
Correspondent Sharon Ijasan reports that it all started as a peaceful protest, but turned violent a few minutes later.

Union leaders tried for hours to enter the company, They insisted the picketing will continue until the management issues appointment letters to more than 2 thousand casual workers.
