Zamfara State Government has again shutdown nine Communities in three local government areas of Anka, Bukkuyum and Gummi.
The Government also shutdown seven major roads and two weekly markets in the state.
The decision follows the recommendations by the state Security Council aimed at curtailing the activities of terrorists and hoodlums unleashing Mayhem on Communities and Travellers on a daily basis.
The affected local government Councils are Anka, Bukkuyum and Gummi as well as Yarkofoji, Birnin Tudu, Rini, Gora Namaye, Janbako, Faru, Kaya, Boko and Mada villages.
A press statement signed by the state Commissioner for Information Ibrahim Dosara says Danjibga and Bagega Markets are also shutdown till further notice.
“Government is saddened and worried about the re-surgence of the activities of bandits and the recent killings of some innocent people in Gusau, Tsafe, Gummi, Bukkuyum, Anka Bungudu, Maru, Maradun and Kaura Namoda Local Government Areas” Dosara said.
“Zamfara government therefore condoled with the families of the victims of the bandits’ attacks and prayed for the repose of the departed souls. Government is also touched by the killings of some of our gallant security operatives who lost their lives in our defense. May their souls rest in peace. Government condolences to the families of the victims and prayed for the speedy recovery of those wounded in the attacks” the state read.
The following roads were also closed until further notice.
They are Colony to Lambar Boko Road, Bakura to Lambar Damri Road, Mayanchi- Daki Takwas to Gummi Road others are Daki Takwas to Zuru Road, Kucheri- Bawaganga – Wanke Road, Magami to Dangulbi Road and Gusau to Magami Road.
Political Meetings and rallies are equally Suspended indefinitely until the security Situation improves
“Furthermore, government has suspended all political activities in the state till further notice. Political meetings and gatherings at individual residences are also banned with immediate effect, henceforth.”
Some Communities and Highways in the state are currently experiencing the resurgence of Banditry activities, which led to the killing of innocent persons Including security operatives at different points
The statement adds that the state government is saddened by the Negative Development and regret any inconvenience the decision might cause the general public.
It also sympathize with the families of the innocent citizens killed and security operatives keeping peace in the state
The Zamfara State Government enjoin citizens to adhere to the new security measures as Security personnel have been directed to deal ruthlessly with anyone found violating the restriction order.
” Government at this point has found it necessary to introduce some stringent measures that may inadvertently hurt everybody. However, the measures are targeted at curtailing the recent excesses of the bandits with the overall objective of crippling their capacity to attack our communities”
Zamfara State Government had in September last year shutdown telecommunication, weekly markets, sell of fuel in Jerrycans and the use of Motorcycles in some Communities to curtail the activities of terrorists.
