Mixed reactions have continued to trail the recently released cut-off marks for admission into tertiary institutions by the Joint Admission and Matriculation Board (JAMB).
JAMB pegged the UTME cut-off mark for admission into federal universities in the 2019/2020 session at 160.
The board also approved 140 as the minimum UTME score for admission into private universities while 120 was set for public polytechnics and 110 approved as the lowest score for admission into private polytechnics.
The minimum cut-off mark for the colleges of education was also agreed on 110.
Some educationists have slammed JAMB, accusing the board of seeking to further degrade the country’s already degraded education system, as the according to them, the decision will discourage excellence and promote mediocrity in nation’s education sector.
