The federal government has suspended the Rural Grazing Area (RUGA) settlement projects, popularly known as RUGA Policy.
Presidential spokesperson, Garba Shehu said the project was suspended because it was not consistent with the approved National Livestock Transformation plan.
The suspension of the Ruga settlement project was announced at the end a meeting presided over by the Vice President, Yemi Osinbajo at the State House, Abuja.
The meeting was attended by Governor Dave Umahi (Ebonyi), Simon Lalong (Plateau), Atiku Bagudu (Kebbi), Deputy Governor of Adamawa state and Permanent Secretary of Ministry of Agriculture.
The National Executive Committee on the farmers-herders crisis also confirmed the suspension saying it is not compulsory and any state interested is required to draw up a development plan towards the implementation.
