The Nigerian army says Boko Haram terrorists killed five and injured 19 soldiers in an ambush at Ugundiri village, Damboa local government area of Borno state.
Army spokesman Sani Usman,who disclosed this, said three members of a local vigilante were also killed in that attack on Sunday night.
Usman said Operation Lafiya Dole troops were attacked during clearance operations on suspected terrorists hideouts in Talala and Ajigin, southern parts of Borno.
He added that the troops destroyed insurgents gun truck and recovered two anti-aircraft guns and two spare gun barrels.
One general purpose machine gun, one rocket propelled grenade, one AK-47 rifle and 320 rounds of ammunition were also recovered.
